四恶比丘

(四惡比丘, 四恶比丘)

The four wicked (sa) bhikṣus who threw over the teaching of their Buddha [lang id =1028]大莊嚴 Dazhuangyan after his nirvana; these suffered in the deepest hells, came forth purified, but have not been able to attain perfection because of their past unbelief; v. [lang id =1028]佛藏經往古品. Also four disobedient (sa) bhikṣus who through much purgation ultimately became the Buddhas of the four points of the compass, [lang id =1028]阿閦, [lang id =1028]寳相, [lang id =1028]無量壽, and [lang id =1028]微妙聲.
